The Wedding Harp
What would it be like to have a harpist at my wedding?

My gold harp is a beautiful and elegant visual addition to your wedding setting! Harp music is romantic and graceful which sets a charming ambience. The harp performance may incorporate many music styles. My harp music repertoire includes everything from Pachelbel's Canon in D to Celtic harp music to Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven. Also, the acoustics of the harp carries well in most places.

The Wedding Venue and the Harp
I am having my wedding at an unusual venue. Can you bring your harp?

"Have harp, will travel!" Almost any venue appropriate for a wedding may accommodate a harp. Some of the wedding venues at which I have played included: a quaint stone chapel, a little country church, the grand Mt. Stephan Hall, a garden terrace, a horse drawn sled, frozen Lake Louise, an alpine meadow, even a 5,500 ft Mountain top! Most weddings I perform for are in the Banff - Lake Louise area in the Canadian Rockies in Canada. I also perform anywhere in Central Alberta region of Canada including Calgary, Kananaskis, Canmore, as well as Field and Emerald Lake B.C.

Wedding Ceremony Music
Where in the wedding ceremony would the harp music be performed?

Basically (but not limited to), the sections of the ceremony where harp music is played are the following:
Prelude - Relaxing harp music greets people arriving at the wedding. The harp performance will begin about 30 minutes before the ceremony starts and will continue until the bride arrives.
Processional - An appropriate musical piece is chosen for the bridal party entrance.
Special Song - An optional special piece of music is selected and played at any point during the formal service. It may be a harp solo or it may be a singer/instrumentalist accompanied by the harp.
Signing of the Register - One tradition in Canada is to have harp music played while the bridal party signs all the legal wedding papers.
Recessional - Immediately after the couple has been announced, joyful harp music begins to escort the bridal party down the aisle.
Postlude - Harp music continues as all the guests arise to greet and follow the newlyweds

As an experienced harpist, I can perform from 1 to 4 hours at a single event.

Harp music is lovely for a soft romantic setting and works well for your music background needs for events such as champagne/punch reception, dinner, and afternoon tea/buffet.

Harp Music - Repertoire
What selections do you have for harp wedding music?

Harp music is very versatile; almost anything is possible! There are countless musical pieces in many styles of music which are appropriate for wedding harp music. 
My harp music repertoire ranges from classical to pop, Irish & Celtic music to sacred songs, Broadway & Hollywood show & movie tunes to light jazz and your special request. If you have any special songs that are dear to your hearts, please just ask! I will find it and perform it on my harp!
However, if you feel unsure about your choice of harp wedding music, I have compiled a list of music that works well as wedding harp music. As well, any of the songs on my CD's may help you select some harp music. You may choose what you would like or leave it up to me.

Harp Music Volume
Is the harp alone loud enough for my guests to hear the harp music?

Harp music acoustically puts out enough volume to easily be heard in a crowd of 200 plus people. Harp music carries well outside as well as inside. In most venues, harp music does not need amplification, and is beautiful just as is!

What experience do you have as a harpist?

This is an important question because I am sure you would love to have beautiful harp music at the wedding!
As a professional harpist, I received my musical training in harp performance from the very best music conservatoires in the world (Eastman, NY, and the Royal Academy of Music in London, England). I have performed for thousands of happy brides over the last 15 years. I am the resident harpist for the Fairmont (formerly Canadian Pacific) Banff Springs Hotel and Chateau Lake Louise in Canada.
